REMEDIALMASSAGE

What it actually is
The therapist works through layers of muscle with broad strokes to warm the area, then slower, more specific pressure where tissue feels dense or guarded. Movement is often added so the muscle lengthens while the pressure is applied.
The aim is practical: tissue that tolerates load better, joints that move through a fuller arc, and a clearer picture of what is actually limiting you. Much of the benefit comes from the nervous system easing its protective tension, not from physically reshaping muscle.
Remedial massage is supportive care, not a diagnosis. Sharp, spreading or persistent pain may need assessment by an appropriate health professional.
How it feels
- Warm, broad pressure to begin—never sudden or sharp
- A strong but manageable ache over tight spots
- Noticeably easier movement in the minutes after treatment
- Occasional mild soreness for a day, similar to after training
Inside the session
- 01
Movement screen
We watch a few simple movements to see where range is short and which side is working harder.
- 02
Warm the tissue
Broad, rhythmic strokes raise local circulation and let the muscle settle before deeper work.
- 03
Specific work
Slower, focused pressure through the restricted area, adjusted constantly to your feedback.
- 04
Reload the range
We move the joint through its new arc so the change is something your body can use.
Best suited to
- Runners and cyclists carrying repeated-load tightness
- Gym athletes with stubborn stiffness between sessions
- Anyone building back toward full training volume
- Pre-event preparation and post-event recovery
After your session
- Drink normally and keep the rest of the day light
- Easy walking or spinning helps the change stick
- Save heavy lifting and hard intervals for 24–48 hours later
- Repeat the mobility drill you were given once a day
